Ryen Ruybal - Owner (Jaw Bat Scout 18u Coach)
Founded Fielder's Choice in 2018, with the sole purpose of getting high school baseball players into college. Ryen played his high school baseball at Madison High (San Diego, CA) and was a 3 time gold glove winner. Continued his baseball career at Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS (NAIA). Ryen has coached at the high school level from 2018-2025 where he has 2 state titles, one at the TAPPS level as well as a TAPPS coach of the year award (2023) and one at the SPC level. Ryen is now an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for KCKCC (Kansas City Kansas Community College).
Ryen is also the head coach of the 18u Jaw Bat Scout team based out of Fort Worth, TX. -
JT Herak - Operations Director (17u Coach)
Brings more than 24 years of baseball coaching experience (19 in public school & 5 in private school). Coach Herak has made several trips to the state tournament with 2023 being his first time winning state at Temple Christian School. Herak has coached over 150+ college athletes with several making it to the MLB. His college playing days included playing at Bacone JUCO in Oklahoma before transferring and playing shortstop for UTA (University of Texas Arlington). Coach Herak also received his Bachelors Degree in exercise sports and health studies.

Jake Merrill - Pitching Director (12u and 16u Coach)
Brings an extensive knowledge to the pitching side of the game at all levels. Coach Merrill is a former 4 year varsity letterman at Madison High School (San Diego, CA) where they made 3 trips to the CIF state finals in a 4 year span. Merrill holds the school record for most pick-offs in a season, as well as most pick-offs in a career. Merrill is currently the Director of pitching/Assistant Head coach at Trinity Valley School (Fort Worth, TX).
Coach Merrill is currently the head coach of Fielder's Choice 12u and 16u teams.

Jake Pulcheon - Director of catching
Coach Pulcheon had a baseball playing career that stretched to the span of 18 years. His playing career consisted of playing for Orange Coast college in Costa Mesa, CA and was part of the 2015 state championship team. 2016 played at Mt.San Jacinto college where Jake was 1st team all-conference. Coach Pulcheon continued his college playing career at the Division 1 level, playing for Houston Baptist University (Now known as Houston Christian University) and finished his playing career in 2019 playing for the Westside Wolly Mammoths out of the United Shores professional baseball league.

Jessica Hylander - Nutritionists
Jessica Hylander started her role as the Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition at TCU in 2021. Prior to her fulltime position at TCU, she was a Sports Nutrition Graduate Assistant from 2019-2021.
Hylander is a Registered Dietitian (RD) through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and is a licensed dietitian (LD) in the state of Texas. Her primary responsibility is assisting in the caring for the nutritional needs of all TCU’s student-athletes primarily through team education and individual counseling. Additionally, Hylander serves as the preceptor for dietetic interns and volunteers, manages team fueling stations campus-wide, participates in an interdisciplinary team to advocate for student-athlete wellness, manages the student-athlete Performance Athletic Dining (PAD) facility, and assists in departmental management. She is passionate about mentoring, mental health, and using up to date, evidence-based research and practices to improve her athlete’s performance.
Hylander received her bachelors of science in Dietetics, with a minor in chemistry from Olivet Nazarene University. She went on to do her dietetic internship and receive a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Dominican University. Most recently, she received an additional master’s degree in Higher Educational Leadership (M.Ed) from TCU. Prior to TCU, she was involved in the Sports Nutrition Departments at both Northwestern University and the University of Florida.Jessica handles all nutrition plans for all of our high school athletes (15u-18u)
